The Day Alarm Bells Rang – A Lesson For Everyone

By admin

I guess it was a normal day, I had checked my emails and was starting to do some research for a local client who wanted to go into the what she called the casual dating market. Now if I am honest this is not my area, and only said yes as she was on some training based program to help young people get started in home business, and she got me some meetings with some top local business agencies in return for the work I did.

Anyway as is my way I hit google, forums, chat areas and found this was a massive area and people had money to spend, real cash as well, and while I was on one chat site having a look around a private chat message popped up and this girl said hope I did not mind her send me a private message but she noticed my bio (I had put my eBay Education Specialist info up), could I give her some help on an auction.

Well she gave me the auction number – her worry was that yes it was an auction, yes she knew the company was in China, yes she knew it took up to 9 weeks for the item to be made and delivered. Her worry was that it was an auction then it said at the bottom there is a $50.00 delivery charge, and I told her that was fair for the item she wanted (it was, Range Ba, an angel gothic wedding, Range Ba, dress – my day was getting better and better !!!!).

But, Range Ba, what worried her was they also wanted to charge $60.00 for the fabric.

Anyway I went to the auction it all looked good, it, Range Ba, was a company, they, Range Ba, had great pictures of the wedding dress, they showed the different colours of the dress, they even had videos and from, Range Ba, reading the sales letter which was well laid out they had different stores for different wedding niches.

All in all it looked good. I was in chat all the time with her and I gave my feed back to her, but also asked some other questions as i got a “gut” feeling all of a sudden and ned time.

I looked at when this shop was opened, it was around 18 months before, but they only had around 5 feedback, now that may not seem, Range Ba, a lot but believe me not many girls would get married in a dress like this, Range Ba, so it was a real micro-niche.

Still this was a small waning bell. I clicked on the feed back it was 100% all good so far.

Then alarm bells rang out, red flashing lights the works, you could still click on all the auctions that had sold, can hear people saying so………….. well with eBay if a listing is over 90 days old you cannot click on the item. So this meant that, Range Ba, all feedback had been left within 90 days, Range Ba, .

Looked at when it was left, 3rd April all 5 of them, and all the people leaving the feedback had a feed back of 1 this was their first ever auction. strange, Range Ba, very strange.

I then clicked on an auction and say that each dress had been bought on 2nd April, Range Ba, . Anyone see a problem? well by rights the dresses should not have been with the buyers until July. So these people were just out for the money.

I explained this to the girl, and she thanked me so many times for saving her cash for for her. I told her to contact eBay trust and safety, and also told her to email Griff at ebay. She did all this and within a few hours all the auctions and shops had gone.

The moral of this story if you get a “gut” feeling go with it, and please always check out an auction if it looks to good to be true, and if it looks bad contact ebay trust and safety and they will take action.
